Essential Job Functions

  • Must have basic understanding of hydraulics and electrical components
  • Must have basic understanding of how truck mounted booms work and function.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate logbooks/ELD.
  • Willing to work early hours and stay late at times
  • Ability to stay out of town in a hotel or travel situation.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the equipment inside and out

  • Ensures maintenance of all pump line systems, clamps hoses etc.

  • Follow all MDOT laws pertaining to driving a commercial vehicle.
  • Attend training on new equipment that may be held out of state.

  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis.
  • Load, unload and identify materials, machinery and tools, then distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications
  • Store and stack material.
  • Communicate and provide assistance to fellow employees
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Clean tools, equipment, machinery and work areas
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps and other temporary structures
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Oversee the construction schedule, budget and ensure the project is completed within deadline.

  • Identifying needs for crew safety training and works with the Safety Director to facilitate delivery of training which could include "safety toolbox meetings."
  • Expedites answers to any technical safety questions.
  • Participates in safety/incident investigations and reviews with the Safety Director and the Field Operations Manager.
  • Ensures timely responses, actions, and corrections to any safety issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe worksite.
  • Communicates the safety plan and all hazards to all team members and oversees the communication of the JHA.
  • Responds in a timely manner to all safety concerns brought to their attention by the Safety Director.
  • Accepts full responsibility for lack of safety and leadership on site.
  • Accepts the disciplinary requirements that may be necessary for site safety.
  • Understands the importance of keeping all team members safe.
  • Participates in all pre planning along with the Operations Manager and the Safety Director.

Planning and Scheduling -

Accountable to the Field Operations Manager for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that the crew(s) under your direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals. This may include:

  • Identifying and/or verifying that materials and tools required by the crew are available for use when needed.
  • Identifying needs and deficiencies in the look ahead plan/schedule and communicating these to the appropriate persons.
  • Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew.
  • Reviewing and adjusting specific work activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules.
  • Working with the crew to overcome work challenges.
  • Identifying, verifying, and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the Field Operations Manager.
  • Promotes, supports, and facilitates teamwork and harmony between all construction crews by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all project crews.
  • Works with management and the shop for all material and tools.
  • Maintains an accurate tool inventory in Tool Hound.
  • Works with management to achieve all scheduling requirements.
  • Works with all crew members to accomplish all tasks.

Quality Control -

Accountable for ensuring the work done meets standards and for implementing work processes to improve productivity and product quality. This includes:

  • Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the crews work to job specifications and follow drawings.
  • Reviewing in section reports and coordinating resolutions to deficiencies.

Administration -

Accountable for the preparation of reports and review of crew(s) reports as required by the employer. This may include:

  • Ensuring crew(s) field time logs are completed on a daily basis.
  • Reporting on crew(s) production, work progress and change to the Field Operations Manager.
  • Approving material requisitions to address any deficiencies on the job site(s).
  • Completing quality control reports when required.
  • Completing required information or data.
  • Recommending personnel actions such as disciplinary action.

Knowledge -
